Thrive Behavioral Health Releases FY23 Annual Report

Foundation set for official designation as Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic in early 2024

WARWICK, RI Thrive Behavioral Health has announced the release of their annual report highlighting the organization’s most notable accomplishments of the last year. Prominently, this year’s report celebrates Thrive being one of the first organizations of its kind in the State of Rhode Island to receive certified status to transform into a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). CCBHC is a relatively new model designed to ensure access to coordinated comprehensive behavioral health care and offer programs or services that meet the unique needs of clients they serve.

“This past year saw some of the most impactful, systemic changes with respect to access to behavioral health services that I’ve seen in my 30-year career in this industry,” said Thrive President & CEO, Dan Kubas-Meyer. “I’m very proud of the concerted effort by our team that helped make the historic budgetary and legislative changes we witnessed a reality through their tireless advocacy.”

The Thrive team successfully advocated for more than $22M in funding in the FY24 state budget to power CCBHCs like theirs throughout Rhode Island. The team anticipates making the formal transition into an official CCBHC by February 2024.

Additional milestones of note from the last year for the organization include:

  • 11,353 hours of outpatient therapy provided to 814 clients. Thrive Outpatient Services include individual, group, and family counseling; psychiatric medication evaluation and management in conjunction with counseling services; and case management services through special programs for victims of trauma.
  • 7,001 hours of community based support for individuals living in recovery with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) were provided this past year by our Warwick Assertive Community Treatment Team. Thrive’s ACT team works every day to eliminate the barriers to entry by going to client’s homes and providing direct services to those who might not be able to travel to office locations. The multi-disciplinary team is staffed with case managers, nurses, psychiatrists, peer recovery specialists, and mental health and substance use clinicians.
  • 145 affordable housing units throughout Rhode Island are maintained by Thrive through programs like Housing First Rhode Island and Kent County Housing.
  • 205 teachers, administrative staff, support staff, and interns trainedin Trauma Informed Care in Child Behavioral Health across 4 school districts.
  • 10,500 nutritious meals served to Hillsgrove Clubhouse members in the past year. Hillsgrove Clubhouse is Rhode Island’s first certified Clubhouse. Modeled after New York City’s pioneering Fountain House, this Warwick-based facility provides a healthy and restorative community for adults living with severe and persistent mental illness to develop a fulfilling, rewarding, and productive lifestyle based on a work order day.
